Narodil se 26. kv\u011btna 1667 ve Vitry ve Francii, nakonec zem\u0159el v Lond\u00fdn\u011b 27. listopadu 1754. Nebyl jen matematik. Byl pr\u016fkopn\u00edkem. Jeho pr\u00e1ce polo\u017eila z\u00e1klad pro analytickou trigonometrii a, co\u017e je d\u016fle\u017eit\u011bj\u0161\u00ed, modern\u00ed teorii pravd\u011bpodobnosti. <\/p>\n<p>Jeho ran\u00e1 l\u00e9ta byla zm\u00edt\u00e1na politick\u00fdmi a n\u00e1bo\u017eensk\u00fdmi ot\u0159esy. Jako francouzsk\u00fd hugenot \u010delil de Moivre po revokaci nantsk\u00e9ho ediktu v roce 1685 uv\u011bzn\u011bn\u00ed. Zru\u0161en\u00ed zas\u00e1hlo protestanty. Po kr\u00e1tk\u00e9m pobytu ve v\u011bzen\u00ed uprchl do Anglie. Tento v\u00fdlet v\u0161echno zm\u011bnil. <\/p>\n<p>V Lond\u00fdn\u011b nena\u0161el \u017e\u00e1dn\u00e9 bohatstv\u00ed. Na\u0161el komunitu. Sbl\u00ed\u017eil se se sirem Isaacem Newtonem a astronomem Edmondem Halleym. Tato praktick\u00e1 zku\u0161enost rizika a n\u00e1hody hluboce ovlivnila jeho pozd\u011bj\u0161\u00ed tvorbu. Pravd\u011bpodobnost ch\u00e1pal nikoli jako abstraktn\u00ed teorii, ale jako n\u00e1stroj k pochopen\u00ed nejistoty re\u00e1ln\u00e9ho sv\u011bta. <\/p>\n<p>Jeho prvn\u00ed velk\u00fd p\u0159\u00edsp\u011bvek k t\u00e9to oblasti byl prezentov\u00e1n v \u010dl\u00e1nku \u201eDe mensura sortis\u201c, napsan\u00e9m v roce 1711. Objevil se ve <em>Philosophical Transactions<\/em>. V roce 1718 roz\u0161\u00ed\u0159il tento \u010dl\u00e1nek do knihy s n\u00e1zvem The Doctrine of Chances. <\/p>\n<p>Teorie pravd\u011bpodobnosti m\u011bla p\u0159edchoz\u00ed ko\u0159eny. Blaise Pascal a Pierre de Fermat zah\u00e1jili diskusi v nepublikovan\u00e9 korespondenci v roce 1654. Christiaan Huygens z Nizozemska publikoval De Ratiociniis v Ludo Aleae v roce 1657. Tyto pr\u00e1ce se zam\u011b\u0159ily na hry v kostky. De Moivre vzal tyto z\u00e1klady a v\u00fdrazn\u011b je roz\u0161\u00ed\u0159il. <\/p>\n<h3>Definice statistick\u00e9 nez\u00e1vislosti<\/h3>\n<p>Jedn\u00edm z nejd\u016fle\u017eit\u011bj\u0161\u00edch koncept\u016f v The Doctrine of Chances byla definice statistick\u00e9 nez\u00e1vislosti. De Moivre tvrdil, \u017ee pravd\u011bpodobnost slo\u017een\u00e9 ud\u00e1losti se rovn\u00e1 sou\u010dinu pravd\u011bpodobnost\u00ed jej\u00edch slo\u017eek. Toto pravidlo plat\u00ed, pokud jsou tyto ud\u00e1losti statisticky nez\u00e1visl\u00e9. <\/p>\n<p>Tato definice z\u016fst\u00e1v\u00e1 dodnes z\u00e1kladn\u00edm kamenem teorie pravd\u011bpodobnosti. Takto vypo\u010d\u00edt\u00e1me pravd\u011bpodobnost n\u011bkolika nez\u00e1visl\u00fdch ud\u00e1lost\u00ed, kter\u00e9 nastanou sou\u010dasn\u011b. <\/p>\n<p>Jeho kniha tak\u00e9 obsahovala mnoho probl\u00e9m\u016f souvisej\u00edc\u00edch s kostkami a dal\u0161\u00edmi hrami. N\u011bkter\u00e9 z t\u011bchto probl\u00e9m\u016f se objevily ji\u017e v Ars conjectandi Jacoba Bernoulliho v roce 1713. Bernoulliho d\u00edlo bylo publikov\u00e1no p\u0159ed de Moivreovou knihou, ale a\u017e po jeho d\u0159\u00edv\u011bj\u0161\u00edm \u010dl\u00e1nku. De Moivre tyto \u00fakoly jednodu\u0161e nezopakoval. P\u0159istupoval k nim jinak. <\/p>\n<p>Principy pravd\u011bpodobnosti odvodil z matematick\u00e9ho o\u010dek\u00e1v\u00e1n\u00ed ud\u00e1lost\u00ed. To byl opak v t\u00e9 dob\u011b p\u0159ij\u00edman\u00e9 praxe. Dnes \u010dasto za\u010d\u00edn\u00e1me s axiomy teorie pravd\u011bpodobnosti a odvozujeme z nich o\u010dek\u00e1v\u00e1n\u00ed. De Moivre za\u010dal s o\u010dek\u00e1v\u00e1n\u00edm a vr\u00e1til se zp\u011bt k pravd\u011bpodobnosti. <\/p>\n<h3>Analytick\u00e9 inovace<\/h3>\n<p>Jeho druh\u00e9 velk\u00e9 d\u00edlo, Miscellanea Analytica, vy\u0161lo v roce 1730. Tento text znamenal dal\u0161\u00ed krok vp\u0159ed. Ve skute\u010dnosti vyvinul p\u0159ibli\u017en\u00fd vzorec pro faktori\u00e1ly, kter\u00fd nese jm\u00e9no Jamese Stirlinga, a to i p\u0159es chybn\u00e9 p\u0159i\u0159azen\u00ed autorstv\u00ed. Pro velk\u00e9 hodnoty <em>n<\/em> se tento vzorec vyhodnot\u00ed jako <em>n<\/em>! jako sou\u010din odmocniny z 2<em>\u03c0n<\/em> x <em>e<\/em> na mocninu <em>-n<\/em> a <em>n<\/em> na mocninu <em>n<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>Nebyla to jen abstraktn\u00ed matematika. V roce 1733 pou\u017eil de Moivre tuto faktori\u00e1ln\u00ed aproximaci k odvozen\u00ed k\u0159ivky norm\u00e1ln\u00edho rozd\u011blen\u00ed. Pou\u017eil to k aproximaci binomick\u00e9ho z\u00e1kona a p\u0159eklenul propast mezi diskr\u00e9tn\u00edm po\u010d\u00edt\u00e1n\u00edm a spojitou pravd\u011bpodobnost\u00ed. <\/p>\n<h3>Od geometrie k anal\u00fdze p\u0159es komplexn\u00ed \u010d\u00edsla<\/h3>\n<p>De Moivre tak\u00e9 propagoval pou\u017eit\u00ed komplexn\u00edch \u010d\u00edsel pro goniometrick\u00e9 funkce. Odvodil identitu, kter\u00e1 nyn\u00ed nese jeho jm\u00e9no: (cos <em>x<\/em> + <em>i<\/em> sin <em>x<\/em> )<em>n<\/em> = cos <em>nx<\/em> + <em>i<\/em> sin <em>nx<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>Tento vzorec vzal trigonometrii za r\u00e1mec \u010dist\u00e9 geometrie a p\u0159enesl ji do oblasti anal\u00fdzy.
